HC Deb 14 June 1920 vol 130 c877
60. Mr. C. PALMER

asked the Prime Minister whether a definite date has yet been fixed for the Spa Conference; whether it has been decided that the heads of the British and the French Governments shall meet in Brussels on 2nd July for a preliminary conference; and, in view of the general belief that the Hythe Conference was held to decide the question to be discussed at Spa, can he state whether any and, if so, what new points have arisen necessitating the meeting at Brussels?

The PRIME MINISTER

A definite day has not yet been fixed for the Spa Conference, pending the constitution of a new German Government, but it is probable that it will take place on 5th July. The answer to the second part of the question is in the affirmative. With regard to the third part, no new points have arisen necessitating the meeting in Brussels, but it was always contemplated that the Allies should have a discussion together before they meet the Germans.
