HC Deb 14 June 1920 vol 130 c884
67. Captain LOSEBY

asked the Prime Minister if any steps have yet been taken to reserve for ex-soldiers temporarily employed in the Civil Service a definite proportion of vacancies in the permanent Civil Service hitherto annually awarded by competitive examination.

Mr. BALDWIN

I would refer the hon. and gallant Member to the answer given to my hon. Friend the Member for Ealing on the 8th instant.

Captain LOSEBY

I should like to ask the Prime Minister personally if his attention has been called to the intense anxiety of many of these temporary Civil Service men, and could he not take a personal interest in this matter, with the idea of setting aside a certain number of vacancies annually—[HON. MEMBERS: "Speech!"]—

The PRIME MINISTER

Yes, I will consider what can be done.
