HC Deb 08 July 1920 vol 131 c1646
47. Sir C. KINLOCH-COOKE

asked if the Government have found it possible to institute a policy of breaking up ships in the Royal dockyards and particularly as regards Devonport?

The FIRST LORD of the ADMIRALTY (Mr. Long)

This matter has been very carefully considered by the Admiralty, and it has been decided for various weighty reasons that it would be impossible to carry out this work at the Royal dockyards. I am fully alive to the importance of restricting discharges, and steps are being taken to limit them as far as possible.
