asked the Minister of Labour what amount of contribution under the Unemployment Insurance Bill would be necessary from employer and employé, assuming the State contribution to remain as at present provided in the Bill, to provide funds for a benefit amounting to, in the case of men, £1, and in the case of women, 16s.?

Dr. MACNAMARA

As stated in paragraph 7 of the Report by the Government Actuary (Cd. 796), the joint contributions required from employer and employé in order to provide benefits of £1 and 16s. for men and women respectively, with no "waiting period," would be 1s. 1d. in the case of men and 10d. in the case of women, assuming the amount of the State contribution to remain as proposed.
