§ Mr. CHURCHILLPromotions of Royal Naval Air Service ratings were promulgated in Royal Naval Air Department Temporary Memoranda, a series of temporary orders circulated to all Royal Naval Air stations. These were regarded as authoritative, and were used in connection with the adjustment of the pay of the ratings concerned. The promotions of officers were published in the "London Gazette" or in the daily lists of appointments circulated by the Admiralty to Naval Commanders-in-Chief, senior Naval officers, etc.
