§ 70. Mr. ROBERT RICHARDSONasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether the contingent liabilities of the Government in respect of Excess Profits Duty collected and liable to be refunded under The Finance (No. 2) Act, 1915, amount to more than £500,000,000; and whether it is proposed to promote legislation to limit the liabilities of the Government in this respect?
Mr. CHAMBERLAINI would refer the hon. Member to the reply given on the 29th June to my hon. Friend the Member for Cardiff Central (Mr. Gould). I am sending the hon. Member a copy of that reply, which indicates that no legislation on this subject is either contemplated or necessary.
