§ 8. Captain REDMONDasked the Chief Secretary for Ireland how and where the £250,000 granted to him for reconstruction in Ireland is being utilised, and how much has already been expended?
§ The CHIEF SECRETARY for IRELAND (Mr. Macpherson)I will send my hon. and gallant Friend a statement, showing how and where this grant is being utilised, and the amount of approved expenditure.
§ Captain REDMONDHas the whole amount already been expended?
§ Mr. MACPHERSONI think not. I think that about £40,000 has not been spent.
§ Captain REDMONDIn that ease will the right hon. Gentleman see that the amount is allocated to other parts of Ireland besides Belfast?
§ Mr. MACPHERSONI think that a great deal is allocated to my hon. and 1880 gallant Friend's constituency. Looking up the statement—which I am going to send my hon. and gallant Friend—I find that at least £4,000 is available still for Waterford, but has not been asked for.
§ Captain REDMONDIf it has not been asked for, I ask for it now.
§ Mr. DEVLINIs the right hon. Gentleman aware the reason it was not asked for is because we did not know it was there?
§ Mr. MACPHERSONThe hon. Gentleman must be speaking for himself, because I know that the hon. and gallant Member for Waterford knew it was there a long time ago.
