HC Deb 26 February 1920 vol 125 c1883
15. Colonel WEDGWOOD

asked the Under secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether the reply of the Polish Government to the peace proposals of the Russian Government has been submitted to the Allied Governments; whether he can give an assurance that no obstacle will be placed in the way of the conclusion of peace; and whether His Majesty's Government will recognise a treaty of peace made by the Polish Government with the Government of the Russian Republic?

Sir H. GREENWOOD

The reply to the first part of the hon. and gallant Member's question is in the negative: as regards the second and third parts, they are too hypothetical in nature to enable me to reply, though it has already been made clear to the House that the question of peace and war with Soviet Russia is, in the opinion of His Majesty's Government, one which Poland must decide for herself.
