HC Deb 25 February 1920 vol 125 c1674
42. Mr. CHARLES WILLIAMS

asked the Minister of Labour whether he will give the figures of unemployment of members of the Amalgamated Society of Engineers for the months of June, July, August, and December, 1919, and for the months of January and February, 1920?

Sir R. HORNE

The number of unemployed members of the Amalgamated Society of Engineers, in branches within the United Kingdom, was approximately 2½ per cent. of the total membership in June, July and August, 1919, and 10 per cent. at the end of December, 1919, and January, 1920. The corresponding figure for February is not yet available. As the previous increase was due to the Moulders' Strike it is anticipated that the figures will now show a considerable decrease.
