HC Deb 23 February 1920 vol 125 cc1273-4
4. Major WILLIAM MURRAY

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether, in view of the high cost of stone used for building in Scotland and the fact that its cost is delaying the erection of houses and placing certain local authorities in a position of difficulty, he will call for an interim report upon this question at the earliest possible time from the Sub-Committee appointed under the Profiteering Act to inquire into the cost of building materials?

Sir A. GEDDES

An investigation is at present proceeding into the cost of the principal building materials, including Scottish building stone, but I am advised that the Central Committee are not yet in a position to make a report.
