HC Deb 19 February 1920 vol 125 cc1038-9
52. Mr. G. LOCKER-LAMPSON

asked the Prime Minister whether he has received replies from all the Departments to the War Cabinet letter of 20th November last in regard to the cutting down of expenditure?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

Most of the replies have been received, and are now under examination.

Mr. LAMBERT

Is the right hon. Gentleman quite sure that the Prime Minister's letter advocating the cutting down of expenditure has reached the War Office?

Mr. LOCKER-LAMPSON

When the reply has been received, will the Chancellor of the Exchequer be able to publish a statement showing how much the expenditure of each Department is going to be reduced?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

I cannot say until I have examined the reports.
