Brigadier-General Sir HILL CHILDasked the Minister of Health whether the amount necessary for payment of interest on loans for housing schemes will have to be raised by the local authority, in the first instance, by means of the rates; and what are the provisions made by the Government for the repayment of such expenditure?
§ Dr. ADDISONInterest and other charges will be paid by the local authority out of its housing receipts which comprise rents, rates, and exchequer subsidy. Advance payments on account of Exchequer subsidy will be made half-yearly, on application from local authorities, at such times as are suitable in view of the dates at which various payments by such authorities in respect of loan charges are due.
