HC Deb 12 February 1920 vol 125 c206
26. Major KELLY

asked the Prime Minister if ho will state who appointed Sir Eric Drummond at head of the staff of the League of Nations; what number is his staff; what are the salaries of Sir Eric Drummond and his staff: and what is the rent of Sunderland House?

The PRIME MINISTER

As regards the first three parts of the question, I would refer the hon. Member to Article VI. and to Annex II., Part I., of the Treaty of Peace of Versailles. I am not in a position to reply as regards the numbers and salaries of the International Secretariat, as the question has not yet come before the Council of the League of Nations. The rent of Sunderland House has been arranged on a temporary basis between the owners and the Secretary-General, but I understand the present rental is nominal.

Mr. BILLING

Is it proposed that the British expenses in connection with the League of Nations will be put down in a separate Vote in this House?

The PRIME MINISTER

Probably; I should think so.
