HC Deb 12 February 1920 vol 125 c201
18. Mr. HAROLD SMITH

asked the Minister of Health whether his attention has been called to two applications recently made to the Licensing Magistrates at Brighton for provisional term licences in respect of two proposed houses of entertainment estimated to cost, respectively, £600,000 and £200,000; whether he will draw the attention of the local authority to Section 5 of the Housing (Additional Powers) Act, 1919; and whether he will cause inquiries to be made as to whether the erection of such buildings is of less public importance than the provision of dwelling accommodation?

The MINISTER of HEALTH (Dr. Addison)

The attention of all local authorities has been drawn to the provisions of Section 5 of the Housing (Additional Powers) Act. I will make inquiries as to the particular case referred to by the hon. Member.
