HC Deb 10 August 1920 vol 133 cc210-1
27. Mr. TYSON WILSON

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office if he is aware that an award granting an increase of wages to the building trade operatives in Bury St. Edmunds and district is not being observed in the Royal Engineering Department at Bury St. Edmunds; and whether he will give instructions that the award must be observed?

Sir A. WILLIAMSON

There would appear to be some doubt as to the rates that are being generally recognised by the local employers. My Department is in consultation with the Ministry of Labour on the subject, and it is hoped to reach a decision this week. I will inform the hon. Member of the result.
