HC Deb 10 August 1920 vol 133 c228
68. Mr. LYNN

asked the Postmaster General whether he can state the amount of old age pension money that has been stolen by the Sinn Feiners from the Post Office; and whether the loss has been made good by the British Treasury or by the ratepayers in the districts where the robberies took place?

The ASSISTANT - POSTMASTER GENERAL (Mr. Pike Pease)

I will endeavour to obtain the figures asked for by the hon. Member and will communicate with him.

Colonel ASHLEY

What is the answer to the last part of the question?

Mr. PEASE

The Department which I represent is in communication with the Treasury on that point.

Colonel ASHLEY

Has not the Post Office certain rules governing such cases?

Mr. PEASE

The matter is under adjudication with the Treasury at the moment. When I have the information I shall be pleased to supply it.
