HC Deb 26 April 1920 vol 128 cc825-6
58. Major GLYN

asked the Minister of Transport whether he will draw the attention of the Road Transport Committee of his Department to the excessive noise made by certain road vehicles, especially road steam-tractors of an old design; whether he is aware that under present circumstances the police have but limited powers to deal with this matter; and whether, in view of the distress caused to many householders living on main thoroughfares by the passage of these vehicles at night and the alarm to horses generally, he will consider what steps can be taken to check this nuisance?

Sir E. GEDDES

The question referred to by my hon. and gallant Friend is included in the terms of reference of the Departmental Committee on the Taxation and Regulation of Road Vehicles, and will be considered by them in due course.
