42. Lieut.-Colonel MURRAYasked the Prime Minister whether he will state the nature and composition of the inquiry that is being held into the recent disturbances in Jerusalem; and whether it is being conducted in public?
§ Mr. CHURCHILLI have been asked to reply. If the hon. and gallant Member will repeat his question, I hope to be in a position to make a statement on this subject to-morrow.
§ Colonel WEDGWOODCan the right hon. Gentleman say whether the Zionist organisation are represented on this Commission, or whether it is simply a Commission consisting of the military, inquiring into the recent disturbances?
§ Mr. CHURCHILLI hope to be able to make a statement to-morrow, which will in itself only be a provisional one. Communications are still passing between this country and Egypt on this point.
§ Colonel WEDGWOODCan the right hon. Gentleman not even give us the names of the Commissioners?
§ Mr. CHURCHILLI should not attempt to do so except in response to a question of which notice has been given.
Sir J. D. REESMay I ask what is the immediate interest of the British taxpayer in Jerusalem? Is not his interest as great in Jericho, Jupiter and other like places?
