HC Deb 20 April 1920 vol 128 c221
53. Mr. DOYLE

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he is in a position to give the result of his recent conference with the committee appointed to inquire into the question of war-time wealth; and whether, in view, of the necessity of covering a wider area for revenue purposes, he is prepared greatly to extend the scope of reference of the committee?

Mr. DOYLE

May I say I handed in three questions for the Order Paper today? One of them is the question I am about to ask. The second was altered and put down for to-morrow in another person's handwriting, and the third one does not appear at all.

Mr. SPEAKER

Does the hon. Member think I am responsible for that?

Mr. DOYLE

May I respectfully ask who is responsible?

Mr. SPEAKER

If the hon. Member will speak to me about it, I will ascertain. If he springs this upon me I cannot possibly know.

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

No, Sir; I have nothing to add to the statement issued by the Committee itself, and to that contained in my speech of yesterday.
