HC Deb 20 April 1920 vol 128 cc207-8
32. Lieut.-Colonel Sir J. HOPE

asked the Secretary of State for War and Air whether he is aware that regular warrant officers and non-commissioned officers who were in 1914 serving on the permanent staff of territorial units, and who were during the War promoted to the rank of officer, have in most cases been compulsorily demobilised without the option of reverting to their pre-war rank and conditions of service, and that thereby those officers lose their pre-war rights of serving on in the ranks for increased pension without the compensating advantage of officer's pension on retirement which has been given to those promoted in regular or service units; and whether he will remedy this injustice to those who were pressed to accept commissions for the benefit of the service?

Sir A. WILLIAMSON

It would assist me in considering this question if the hon. and gallant Member would communicate to me particulars of the cases he has in mind.
