HC Deb 20 April 1920 vol 128 cc224-5
61. Mr. HOGGE

asked the Secretary for Scotland when the Clause in the Edu- cation (Scotland) Act, 1918, prohibiting street trading under 17 years of age, will come into operation?

Mr. MUNRO

Section 16 of the Education (Scotland) Act, 1918, is, as a whole, closely connected with the raising of the school age to 15 years, the " appointed day " for which has not yet been fixed. As a result, however, of representations received I have undertaken to consider whether it will be possible and advisable to bring into force Sub-section (2) of Section 16 at an earlier date than the remainder of the Section.
