HC Deb 20 April 1920 vol 128 cc223-4
58. Mr. ALFRED T. DAVIES

asked the Minister of Pensions whether, although a woman marries an ex-soldier after his discharge and her husband subsequently dies from a cause directly the result of his service in the Army, she is not entitled to any pension allowance, yet if the woman had been living with the man, though not married to him, she would be entitled to receive a pension from the State?

Major TRYON

A woman who only becomes dependent upon an ex-soldier after his discharge cannot be granted a pension under the Royal Warrant upon his death, whether she was legally married to him or was living with him as his wife.
