HC Deb 15 April 1920 vol 127 cc1834-5
52. Colonel WEDGWOOD

asked the Prime Minister whether he has any information to give the House as to the recent regrettable riots in Jerusalem?

Mr. BONAR LAW

I would refer the hon. and gallant Member to the answer which I gave yesterday to a similar question by my noble Friend the Member for Hitchin.

Colonel WEDGWOOD

May we take it the rumours from America, which have appeared in the Press, are entirely un- founded, and that it is not these riots which have caused the British Government to change their mind as to making Palestine a home of the Jewish people?

Mr. BONAR LAW

I do not think that there is any change whatever in our policy.

Major Earl WINTERTON

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that on every occasion under Turkish occupation during the last 50 years there have been disturbances, and that it is only a matter of misfortune that they have occurred now?
