HC Deb 30 October 1919 vol 120 cc862-3
29. Mr. MacVEAGH

asked who is responsible for the recent issue from Dublin Castle of a list of crimes alleged to have been committed by the Sinn Fein organization?

Mr. MACPHERSON

I am.

Mr. MacVEAGH

Can the right hon. Gentleman say why, if the leaders of Shin Fein are responsible for those outrages, he has not put them on trial?

Mr. MACPHERSON

I cannot add anything to what I have said, but I take the entire responsibility for that.

Captain W. BENN

Will the right hon. Gentleman give to the House the evidence on which he alleges that the Sinn Fein organisation is responsible for these crimes?

Mr. MACPHERSON

I wish I could. It would take me the whole of the day to give the evidence, because there is complete and full evidence that the whole of these crimes are committed by Sinn Feiners, and by nobody else.

Mr. MacVEAGH

If that is so, why do you not prosecute them? It is because the statement is untrue.

Mr. MACPHERSON

The statement is true.
