HC Deb 30 October 1919 vol 120 c886
87. Sir PHILIP MAGNUS

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether, having regard to the fact that railway fares are not likely to be reduced, he can arrange that the tickets shall be stamped with the fare actually charged for the journey, in order to avoid the difficulty of rapidly calculating the exact fare to be paid, and the amount of change to be received?

The MINISTER of TRANSPORT (Sir Eric Geddes)

The point raised has been considered in the past, and as explaind in a reply on the subject given to the hon. and gallant Member for the Milton Division of Leicestershire on the 21st July, many of the railway companies had considerable stocks of printed tickets which it was undesirable to waste. I am, however, consulting the railway companies on the matter.
