HC Deb 30 October 1919 vol 120 cc886-7
94. Mr. T. THOMSON

asked the Minister of Health if he can reconsider his decision insisting upon the bathrooms in some of the new houses being in the scullery or downstairs when the local authority wish to place them upstairs?

Mr. PARKER

I have been asked to answer this question. The position of the bathroom is primarily a question for the local authority. It is not the practice to insist upon the placing of the bathroom downstairs if an economical upstairs arrangement can be provided in the type of house which the local authority desire to erect.

Mr. THOMSON

Am I to understand that if the local authority insist upon the bathrooms being placed upstairs the Minister of Health will not overrule their decision?

Mr. PARKER

The hon. Member had better give notice of that question.

Mr. THOMSON

'That is the question on the Paper.

Mr. SPEAKER

If the answer is not clear the hon. Member had better put down another question. The hon. Member (Mr. Parker) is only answering on behalf of another Department.
