HC Deb 29 October 1919 vol 120 c649
35. Viscount CURZON

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether it is the intention of the Admiralty to employ any of the members of the Women's Royal Naval Service after their disbandment in any capacity?

Dr. MACNAMARA

A small staff is being retained at headquarters till 15th December, in, connection with the closing down of the Women's Royal Naval Service organisation. A certain number of officers and ratings of the Women's Royal Naval Service whose services were required at naval establishments during demobilisation for other purposes than the above have been re-entered temporarily on a civilian basis.

Viscount CURZON

Is it the intention of the authorities to retain these ladies in any employment?

Dr. MACNAMARA

I think my hon. Friend has suggested before that we should keep in being the nucleus of this service; that, I think, is under consideration at the moment.
