HC Deb 29 October 1919 vol 120 c635
Colonel WEDGWOOD

asked the Secretary of State for India whether he will grant a Return showing the names of the newspapers proceeded against under the Press Act during the current year, the sums each paper has forfeited, and the sums which they have now been required to deposit?

Mr. MONTAGU

I think that the Return which I promised on the 13th August will contain what my hon. and gallant Friend requires. A statement from the Government of India is now on its way to me, but it may be desirable to wait for some further information, now being collected in India, in order to cover the matter more comprehensively.
