HC Deb 29 October 1919 vol 120 c664
63. Mr. RONALD McNEILL

asked the Prime Minister if he will say who is responsible for the administration of the Prince of Wales' Fund for the relief- of distress caused by the War?

Mr. BONAR LAW

The Prince of Wales' Fund is administered by an Executive Committee which was appointed by His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, after consultation with Mr. Asquith, who was Prime Minister when the fund was initiated. The House must understand that the Prince of Wales' Fund is a private fund, and that no Minister of the Crown is in any way responsible for its administration.

An HON. MEMBER

Can the right hon. Gentleman say what is the present cost of administration, and how much was disbursed during the last year?

Mr. BONAR LAW

I cannot say. My answer, I think, implies that this is not a subject upon which any Minister can be, expected to answer questions, because no Minister has any responsibility with the matter.

Mr. J. DAVISON

Can the right hon. Gentleman give us the name of the Secretary of the Committee to whom communications should be sent?

Mr. BONAR LAW

If the hon. Gentleman will communicate with me that can be obtained.
