HC Deb 29 October 1919 vol 120 c654
41. Captain BAGLEY

asked the Minister of Labour if he is now able to give any information as to the present and pre-war output per head in the principal occupations; and, if not, whether he will collect and lay before the House particulars of the present average output per head as far as they are obtainable?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

I have been asked to reply. I am afraid I can add little to the answer given by my hon. Friend the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Labour to a question by my hon. and gallant Friend on 2nd July last. The work of compiling the second census of production (1912) was interrupted by the War, and is still far from completion, so that the only information regarding output per head before the War is that to be found in the Report of the First Census of Production for 1907.

It has not been found possible to prosecute inquiries into the situation during the past few months, and a considerable increase of the statistical staff would he required for the purpose. The date on which a new Census of Production should be taken is now under consideration.
