HC Deb 29 October 1919 vol 120 c659
50. Lieut.-Colonel Sir F. HALL

asked the Prime Minister what steps have been taken to carry into effect the promises given at the last General Election with respect to reform of the Second Chamber; and, if a decision has not yet been arrived at, will he state whether the Government will definitely indicate what they intend to do in the matter before the House rises for the Christmas Recess?

Mr. BONAR LAW

This question is receiving careful consideration by the Government, but I am not in a position at present to make any statement.

Sir F. HALL

Can my right hon. Friend say when he will be in a position to make any statement, considering the promise that was given twelve months ago?

Mr. BONAR LAW

Yes; the Government are quite alive to that promise and also to the necessity of doing something. We hope that it may be possible to deal with it next Session.
