HC Deb 29 October 1919 vol 120 c667
70. Major CHRISTOPHER LOWTHER

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Oversea Trade Department what steps have been taken to encourage British trade in the Republic of Cuba?

Colonel Sir HAMAR GREENWOOD (Department of Oversea Trade)

In addition to two salaried and seven unsalaried Consular officers already serving the interests of British trade in Cuba, a commercial secretary will shortly be appointed, and he will proceed to his post at the earliest possible date. The Department of Oversea Trade is always ready to give assistance to British traders desiring information in regard to trade with Cuba. If my hon. and gallant Friend wishes for more detailed information about each of the specific measures we have taken to stimulate our trade with that country, I shall be pleased to give it to him.
