HC Deb 29 October 1919 vol 120 cc635-6
7. Lieut.-Colonel POWNALL

asked the Secretary of State for India whether he is yet in a position to state what increase in pensions has been decided upon in the case of officers now serving in the Indian Army, in view of the fact that the Indian Army rate of pensions is now in many instances below the rate given to officers serving in the British Army?

Mr. MONTAGU

I regret that I am not yet in a position to give the information desired. The subject is still under consideration. The date from which the new scale will have effect will not be prejudiced by any delay that may occur in announcing the new rates.

Colonel ASHLEY

Can the right hon. Gentleman say if he has received a deputation of ex-Indian officers on this subject, and what reply he was able to give to them?

Mr. MONTAGU

I have not received them yet, but I hope to shortly.
