HC Deb 29 October 1919 vol 120 cc636-7
10. Colonel YATE

asked whether ordinary furlough and privilege leave has yet been reopened for officers and men of the Indian Army; if not, when it will be reopened; and whether officers of the Indian Army who are entitled to pensions are now permitted to retire or whether they are still compulsorily retained in the Service?

Mr. MONTAGU

Privilege leave and furlough have been reopened for the Indian Army. The prohibition or retirements, which was in force during the War, has also been removed. In all cases the grant of leave or permission to retire is, of course, subject to the exigencies of the Service.
