§ 5. Mr. BRIANTasked the President of the Board of Trade what measures Thad been taken to check the operations of trusts and to deal with speculation under the Profiteering Act?
§ Mr. BRIDGEMANThe first step taken in connection with the investigation of the operations of trusts has been to examine prices. I would refer the hon. Member to the answer given yesterday by my right hon. Friend to the hon. Member for the 170 Elland Division, to which I might add that inquiries are being made into the costs and profits at all stages in the handling and distribution of fish, and that special Sub-Committees are at present investigating cotton, tobacco, soap and farriery.
