Mr. SHORTasked the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether he will give an assurance that women who were employed by the Field Stores, Aldershot, before the War will have the option of remaining in the Service; whether ho is aware of the large number of women who are being discharged; and whether he can state the reason for transferring the clothing department elsewhere, thus causing the discharge of numbers of women?
§ Mr. FORSTERI would refer the hon. Member to the reply given to n similar question asked by the hon. Member for Silvertown (Mr. J. Jones) on the 11th November. I am afraid that I cannot give the assurance asked for in the first part of the question. As regards the last part of the question, the transfer was effected in the interests of economy.
