§ 19. Captain AINSWORTHasked the Secretary of State for War if he will cause inquiries to be made with a view to the early release of Private S. Waywell, No. 68082, 3rd Lancashire Fusiliers, stationed at Marne Barracks, Blackdown, Aldershot, who enlisted on the 10th February, 1919, at the age of seventeen years and four months, and for whose release the parents have applied; whether he is aware that his birth certificate was for warded on request to his commanding officer in April, who, it is stated, promised his release in a few days early in June; and whether he can see his way to ordering the immediate release of this soldier?
§ Mr. CHURCHILLI am not aware of this case, but inquiries are being made and I will inform my hon. and gallant Friend of the result in due course. I would, however, remind him that the discharge of a soldier who is over seventeen years of age is only authorised as a concession under certain circumstances.
