§ 78. Lord R. CECILasked the Prime Minister what is the present position of the Armenians; and what steps, if any, the Government have found it possible to take to save the remnants of this allied nation from final extinction?
§ Sir H. GREENWOODThe representatives of His Majesty's Government in the Caucasus have been endeavouring, not without success, to promote a friendly understanding and arrangements between the Armenians and the Governments of the neighbouring States, and the situation has, in consequence, been less anxious.
§ Lord R. CECILMay I ask whether that applies to what is called Russian Armenia; and what steps are being taken in respect of Turkish Armenia, which is much more serious?
§ Sir H. GREENWOODI must ask the Noble Lord to give notice of that question, because I have given the reply handed to me by the Foreign Office, and I cannot add anything.
§ Mr. A. WILLIAMSWould the Prime Minister be willing to receive an influential deputation dealing with this very important matter?
§ The PRIME MINISTERI will consider that.
