HC Deb 19 November 1919 vol 121 c905
30. Major HILLS

asked the Minister of Labour whether the Government intend before 30th September next to pass special legislation, beyond that contained in the Industrial Courts Bill and the Trades Boards Acts, dealing with women's wages; or whether he intends to leave them unregulated except for the provisions in those Acts?

Mr. WARDLE

As my hon. and gallant Friend may be aware, there is a Bill now before the House to establish a Minimum Wage Commission. If this Commission is set up, I should hope that it would have made considerable progress before 30th September next, and that it will be possible to see more clearly in the light of its recommendations what measures, if any, are required of the kind indicated.
