Major MORRISON-BELLasked the Prime Minister if it has been brought to his notice that the London County Council and twenty-six municipal councils, including those of Leeds, York, Barrow-in-Furness, Burnley, Stoke-on-Trent, and Wigan, have passed resolutions in support of the Local Elections (Proportional Representation) Bill, 1919; and if he will endeavour to pass this Bill, which is merely a permissive Bill, through the House of Commons during the present Session in order to me-et the demand of these important councils?
§ Mr. BONAR LAW (Leader of the House)So far I have only received one resolution on this subject. Owing to the pressure on Parliamentary time it is unlikely that it will be possible to proceed with the Local Elections Bill this Session.
