HC Deb 17 November 1919 vol 121 cc606-7
40. Colonel BURN

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Agriculture whether, in view of the forthcoming National Terrier Show in December, he will relax the existing Regulations to enable an owner to take his dog home when the show closes instead of the dog having to remain shut up in a box without food or water for twenty-four hours as after the recent Great Joint Terrier Show?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of AGRICULTURE (Sir Arthur Boscawen)

All shows in a. Control of Dogs District have to Toe authorised by licence of the Board subject to conditions agreed upon by the Board and the Kennel Club. The Board have not yet received any application for the holding of the show mentioned. The conditions under which a licence is issued are being reviewed. I regret to learn that, owing to congestion at the railway stations, there was considerable delay in returning some of the dogs from the Great joint Terrier Show to their owners' premises, and I hope that in future this may be avoided.
