HC Deb 17 November 1919 vol 121 cc588-9
26. Mr. TYSON WILSON

asked the Minister of Transport whether he proposes to allow commercial travellers cheap week-end railway tickets to enable them to visit their homes; and, if so, when will this privilege be granted?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY of TRANSPORT (Sir Rhys Williams)

The Minister has already given very careful consideration to similar requests, and he regrets that in the present financial position he does not feel justified in according exceptional privileges to commercial travellers.

Mr. INSKIP

Is the hon. Gentleman able to say when the railways will be made as convenient to the travelling public as they were before the War?

Sir R. WILLIAMS

As soon as possible.
