HC Deb 06 November 1919 vol 120 c1682
79. Commander Viscount CURZON

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether the published extracts from Lord Jellicoe's Report as to the requirements of naval defence in the Pacific are official; if Lord Jellicoe is representing the Board of Admiralty; and if this Report is to be taken as constituting the view of the Admiralty upon this question?

Mr. LONG

The reports in the Press appear to be substantially correct. Lord Jellicoe is representing the Admiralty for the purpose of advising the Dominion Governments on the subject of naval organisation, and is acquainted with the Admiralty views thereon. Lord Jellicoe's Report was rendered direct to the Dominion Governments, and has not yet been considered by the Board of Admiralty.

Lieut.-Commander KENWORTHY

In view of the recent statement with regard to naval policy that the matter has not yet been settled, will the right hon. Gentleman consider the advisability of stopping publication of these reports until a decision is arrived at?
