HC Deb 06 November 1919 vol 120 c1664
34. Mr. THOMSON

asked the Minister of Health if, in view of the inclement season of the year and consequent cost in health and money of holding elections in October, he will recommend the Government to alter the date of future municipal elections to a more seasonable period of the year?

Dr. ADD I SON

I have received representations from the councils of a few municipal boroughs in favour of the date for the municipal elections being altered as suggested by the hon. Member, but I have at present no such evidence of a general desire that the dates should be altered as would justify me in proposing legislation for the purpose.

Mr. THOMSON

If the right hon. Gentleman had evidence of the views of municipalities would he consider the suggestion favourably?

Dr. ADDISON

I have considered the whole case according to the representations which have been made up to the present, but they have been very few.
