HC Deb 06 November 1919 vol 120 c1657
22. Mr. I N S KI P

asked the Under Secretary of State for the Colonies whether it is intended to deport from the Colony of Gambia a chief, Musa Molloh, late king of Fulladu; and, if so, whether the decision has been preceded by a public trial at which evidence from all parties concerned has been duly taken?

The UNDER SECRETARY of STATE for the COLONIES (Lieut.-Colonel Amery)

Yes, Sir, Musa Molloh is being deported because it was found that he was in the habit of keeping a large number of women in a condition of slavery. No formal trial was held but the matter was very fully investigated by the Governor and his officers and Musa Molloh had the opportunity of explaining his conduct, if it had been susceptible of any satisfactory explanation.
