§ 86. Colonel Sir A. SPROTasked the Secretary for Scotland if he is aware that in the parish of Leuchars the sum demanded for education this year is £2,589, as compared with. £900 last year, while the extra remuneration due to salaries of teachers in that parish ifs only £500 to £600, from which it appears that the large extra demand is not due to increased salaries alone; that in the parish of New-burn the amount. demanded for education this year is four and a half times that demanded last year; that it is equal to a charge of £20 per child in the parish school; and that the chairman. and all the members of the parish council of this parish have resigned; and will he have inquiry made into the matter?
§ The SECRETARY for SCOTLAND (Mr. Munro)I am having inquiries made regarding the various figures and statements in the question, and will communicate the result to my hon. and gallant Friend.
