HC Deb 06 November 1919 vol 120 c1685
86. Colonel Sir A. SPROT

asked the Secretary for Scotland if he is aware that in the parish of Leuchars the sum demanded for education this year is £2,589, as compared with. £900 last year, while the extra remuneration due to salaries of teachers in that parish ifs only £500 to £600, from which it appears that the large extra demand is not due to increased salaries alone; that in the parish of New-burn the amount. demanded for education this year is four and a half times that demanded last year; that it is equal to a charge of £20 per child in the parish school; and that the chairman. and all the members of the parish council of this parish have resigned; and will he have inquiry made into the matter?

The SECRETARY for SCOTLAND (Mr. Munro)

I am having inquiries made regarding the various figures and statements in the question, and will communicate the result to my hon. and gallant Friend.
