HC Deb 06 November 1919 vol 120 c1686
89. Mr. HAYDN JONES

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Agriculture whether he has received Resolutions from Welsh farmers' unions urging the establishment of a separate Wages Board for Wales; and whether, in view of the many conditions which are peculiar to agriculture in Wales, he will take the necessary legislative action to set up a separate Wages Board for the Principality?

Sir A. BOSCAWEN

Before the Agricultural Wages Board for England and Wales was established, a Resolution in favour of a separate board was received from a meeting of farmers in Anglesey, but no evidence has been forthcoming that the present arrangement is regarded as unsatisfactory by Welsh farmers. Agricultural conditions vary in different districts of Wales, but there are districts in England where conditions are similar. It may be pointed out that local peculiarities are fully represented by the District Wages Committees, of which there are six in Wales.
