HC Deb 05 November 1919 vol 120 c1497
71. Mr. PRESTON

asked the Secretary of State for War what number of troops there is at the Uxbrige armament school; what number of civilians and how many women belonging to the Women's Royal Air Force service are stationed here; and is this intended to be a temporary or a permanent station?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for AIR (Major-General Seely)

There is no longer any armament school at Uxbridge. If my hon. Friend is referring to the Royal Air Force depot at Uxbridge, the personnal on the strength of this depot (which comprises Headquarters, Southern Area, and Headquarters, No. 2 Group) is as follows:—Royal Air Force, officers, ninety-three, airmen, 1881 (of whom 1,561 are recruits); Women's Royal Air Force, eighty-nine (of whom forty-nine are in course of being demobilised); civilian subordinates, thirty-three; total, 2,096. It is intended that this shall be a permanent depot.
