asked the Secretary of State for War how many of the fifty-two Territorial officers who were selected to command brigades during the War had not served previously to their becoming Territorials in Regular forces?

Of the fifty-two Territorial Force officers who held the tem- pcrary rank of brigadier-general during the War, forty-three were brigade commanders, and nine were commanders, Royal Artillery, Staff, etc. Of the forty-three brigade commanders, twenty-four had not served in the Regular Forces previous to their joining the Territorial Force.
