Mr. GIDEON MURRAYasked the Secretary for Scotland whether he is aware that there is considerable difference of opinion as to the best route to follow for the Forth and Clyde Ship Canal; whether the Government has had surveys made in order to decide which is the best route; and, if not, whether the Government will put surveys in hand at once so that they may be carefully made and that all essential information may be available?

As regards the suggestion made in the last part, I beg to refer my hon.
